Overview

Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for a Quality Assurance (QA) Manager in Richland, WA.

 

This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

The QA Manager oversees the QA Engineers, QA Specialists, and Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Specialists. The QA Manager is responsible for all QA activities at the 222-S Laboratory and is accountable to the Assurance Systems Director.

 

Under minimal managerial oversight:

  • Promote a positive, safety-conscious, and collaborative work environment consistent with the HLMI mission, vision, and values, based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
  • Ensure expectations established by senior management around the essential duties are effectively flowed down to employees, regularly reinforced, and incorporated into the performance review process.
  • Implement ISMS, VPP, and EMS responsibilities in assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Effectively lead team members including establishing arrangements that allow them to perform effectively in their role.
  • Manage assigned scope and subordinates by ensuring adequate resources are provided, assigning, and tracking tasks, evaluating personnel performance and providing professional development opportunities.
  • May oversee one or more subordinate managers or supervisors.
  • Mentor, train, coach, and counsel staff in the effective development and delivery of assigned programs, projects, and deliverables.
  • Ensure adherence to all contract requirements and applicable state/federal regulations as appropriate.
  • Act as 222-S Laboratory POC for quality level determinations.
  • Interpret QA requirements for the 222-S Laboratory and assist laboratory management in the implementation of QA requirements.
  • Maintain, review, and revise, as necessary, the laboratory’s quality program policy and procedure, and provide revision training.
  • Participate in Hanford Analytical Services Quality Assurance Requirements Document Focus Group meetings and activities, as assigned.
  • Perform surveillances and audits as well as worker, general, analytical, and management assessments.
  • Serve as Laboratory Quality Manager and POC with American Industrial Hygiene Association Laboratory Accreditation Programs and the Washington Department of Ecology.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and 15 years of directly related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience working in a quality assurance discipline included in this organization (Analytical Data Quality, Quality Assurance Engineering, or Software Quality Assurance).

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working in a DOE laboratory or a commercial environmental laboratory.
  • Experience implementing ISO 17025 requirements.
  • Experience implementing NQA-1 requirements.
  • Experience obtaining accreditation through a DOECAP recognized accrediting body.

Compensation

Grade 22: $159,363 - $209,688

 

The grade level offered to the selected candidate will be based on business needs and the candidate's education, training, and/or relevant experience.
