Overview

Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for a Co-Op Engineer (Senior) in Richland, WA.

 

This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

Support the 222-S Complex with mechanical engineering and other duties as assigned with limited supervision. Performs a variety of engineering duties including but not limited to: new mechanical equipment design and upgrades of existing mechanical systems, originating Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and Drawing Change Notices (DCNs), conducting field walk downs, equipment selection and parts ordering, and assisting in the planning and execution of field work. Performs engineering work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks.

  • Use and/or application of codes and standards, engineering principles, to prepare mechanical designs and other design engineering documents as assigned.
  • Implement and manage Preventative Maintenance (PM) for assigned systems. Support the team planning process to develop work instruction to safely implement designs within the 222-S Complex. Oversee field modifications and acceptance testing and perform field work complete walk downs.
  • Under limited supervision, works on a variety of assignments that are complex in nature where independent action and a high degree of initiative is required in resolving problems and making recommendations.

Minimum Requirements

  • A U.S. citizen.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • An active full-time student during the two semesters/quarters immediately preceding the assignment.
  • Maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) during their college enrollment.
  • Students at Washington State University, Tri-Cities (WSU-TC), Columbia Basin College (CBC), or any online students living local who are enrolled in a degree program in Accounting or Finance.
  • Senior status and enrolled full-time, as determined by the institution.
  • Willing and able to work 15-40 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 6:30 am-5:00 pm.

Desired Qualifications

  • Hanford engineering experience.

Compensation

Grade S&E Co-Op Sr: $29.72/hr

 

The grade level offered to the selected candidate will be based on business needs and the candidate's education, training, and/or relevant experience.
