Overview

Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for a AutoCAD Designer/Drafter in Richland, WA.

 

This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support the 222-S Complex with computer-aided drafting, designer, and other duties as assigned with minimal supervision. They will directly perform work of designer and drafter in support of the 222-S Plant Engineering group. This work includes the preparation of plan view, elevation views, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) models and construction drawings for Nuclear facilities. The successful candidate will originate Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and conduct field walk downs to verify field dimensions.

  • Works under minimal supervision in the preparation of designs of engineering systems, structures, plant arrangements, and equipment. Prepares detailed diagrams, drawings, and CAD models for facility modifications and project upgrades.
  • Self-checks work for compliance with approved design/drawing standards to provide quality design and reliable/safe plant operation.
  • Prepares design and drafting products in accordance with drawing procedures to standardize design effort.
  • Incorporates work completed ECNs to update existing drawings for configuration control of the facility Essential and Support drawings.
  • Prepares drawing revisions and Engineering Data Transmittals (EDT) for drawing release in accordance with applicable codes, standards, procedures, and criteria.
  • Utilizes AutoCAD, Smart Plant, and other software. Apply working knowledge of mechanical and electrical codes, manuals, and standards to engineering design. Review designs, plans, and shop drawings.
  • Responsible for drawing/drafting procedures and standards in accordance with site criteria.
  • Initiates design modifications and coordinate with others in the Plant Engineering group and Projects group to support internal design projects.
  • Ensures that designs/drawings are consistent with project technical requirements and scope.
  • Performs field walk downs for as-found conditions and to resolve design questions and installation issues.
  • Ensures accuracy of Essential and Support drawing for configuration control of the 222-S facility.

Minimum Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in related field and 10 years of related design experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 2 years of related experience must be in the Nuclear industry.
  • Hanford Designer/Drafter experience.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and have proven 2D CAD and 3D skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Smart Plant Foundation experience.

Compensation

Grade 20: $129,063 - $162,688

 

The grade level offered to the selected candidate will be based on business needs and the candidate's education, training, and/or relevant experience.
